I am 28yrs., 5 ft. 8 in., 150 lbs, with 22%-24% body fat depending on the calculator used. My boyfriend is 27yrs., 5 ft. 11 in., 170 lbs with 24-30% body fat depending on calculator. We'd like to start exercising (we were both very athletic in high school and I also in college) but we have been pretty inactive for 3 years now.

I'd love for an expert to tell me what would be a reasonable goal to set for body fat loss if we commit to exercising 3-4x per week 30-45 min. each time for 4 to 6 weeks (no diet modifications yet, just exercise). I know guys burn it off faster than girls, so I would like to know what would be a fair, comparable loss for each of us. That way we can see who really "won" and have some fun with it.

Well, the first thing you can do is have a professional body fat test as those online calculators are very inaccurate.

And to lower body fat, it is a case of strength training as well as cardio and a high protein diet.

A good place to aim if you want to look really lean without looking ripped would be 18%-22% for a female and 10%-14% for a male. If you want that six pack, then 16%-18% for a female and 8%-10% for a male.

Im in track and curious to know how your metabolism changes when you start running long distances every day. How can I improve it because I feel like Im burning out.

I don't think the metabolism is so much a factor as your training is.

Typically, endurance, and ultra endurance athletes are able to burn fat as a fuel at a higher exertion level than non endurance athletes. This helps, as fat is a great energy source.

Any training plan, for sprinters, marathoners, weight lifters, any athletes, will naturally increase the bodies metabolism. You are expending more energy, therefore you need to take in more food, and your body learns to process it more efficiently.

If you are feeling burned out, try taking a break. Do you run every day? Do you vary your workouts to do speed work, weight training, along with the distance work? Are you recovering correctly? After any workout you need to eat and drink immediately after, or as close to it as possible.

If you are just starting out doing long runs, you will be pretty tired, a lot of demands on your body that it hasn't had to cope with before. As long as you ramp up, get good recovery, and stay healthy, you will improve.

I have been taking phentermine since 10/06 got off for a month 12/06 and now it's time to take another break. I don't eat much anymore and when I got off in December I noticed I was always hungry. I don't want to be hungry and tired all the time. I need something that will give me an extra kick. Any suggestions.

I'm not sure if you should take anything during a phentermine break (I heard phentermine can be bad for your heart), but if you think you need something, I'll tell you what I like the best. I use 35 mg of Bontril (this is a prescription drug). You can take it late in the day (even 5 p.m.) and it doesn't cause you to lose sleep. Phentermine made me feel "wired", but Bontril doesn't. My friends and I call Bontril "magic pills" since they suppress your appetite and if you are tired and have that head-nodding, can't concentrate sleepy feeling, they take it away and just make you feel normal (this has saved me many times in boring meetings). Just take one pill when you are hungry, and it should do the trick. :)

I have been excercising and eat less to try to lose weight but I was wondering if anyone knew of a diet pill that helps you burn off fat faster and that actually works! Can anyone give me some good advice? I need to lose at least 20 pounds before September!

there is no good diet pill, all of them are very bad for you
