Asthma inhaler…appetite supressant????
ByI suffer from mild asthma but recently it has gotten quite a bit worse so i’m taking my inhalers frequently throughout the day. Normally i have a very good appitite and if i don’t eat frequently I get dizzy and have headaches. This week was very busy at work and most days i’d get to the end of the day and realise I hadn’t had lunch yet (unintentionally) and the strangest thing about it was that I wasn’t even hungry.
I am relatively thin anyway so am not trying to loose weight but wondered if my inhalers could be suppressing my appetite because i’m sure i’ve read somewhere that this can happen????? Please help
I don’t have any idea about your problem. However, I came across a blog about Asthma. Hope you find your answer there.

You should still eat regularly so you don’t cause harm to yourself. Try finding healthier things to eat though like fruit or even deli sandwiches.

Oh how I wish. I’m an asthmatic and I’m not thin. I wish, I wish, I wish.
The one thing that got me about your post is that your asthma isn’t in good control. Please see your doctor. Your inhaler is for rescue only not for every few hours. Do you get your peak flow tested? If not, ask your doctor if you can start. It’s a simple device that you blow into and the needle on the dial goes up to a number that tells you how strong your breathing is. Your peak flow swing wildly. If your peak flow is 400 without your inhaler, it should only be about 425 or 450 after you use your inhaler. If your peak flow is 400 without your inhaler and 600 with it, your asthma isn’t in good control. I don’t know how old you are but, asthma has a tendency to be bad when you are a kid and almost disapper in late teens and early twenties only to reappear in mid to late twenties. That isn’t a law, sometimes it comes back and the rules don’t apply. What matters is that you keep your doctor well informed. Wild swings in peak flow are a good indicator that you may need additional medication.
As for appetite, you got me on that one.
