How much does cutting back on food affect your metabolism?
By adminA site told me how much I should eat a day inorder to lose 20 lbs by July.
I need 2000 cal to stay at my current weight and it reccommended to eat 1300cal and no lower to reach the goal weight (125 lbs).
This seems fine, but how successful do you think this could be, based on the fact that metabolisms slow? Or is it only in extreme cases when the metabolism slows enough to have a LARGE effect on Weight loss.
Metabolism can slow somewhat with reduced calories but to counteract that, you can just eat more times a day. You can divide out that 1300 calories into 5-6 small meals and as long as you’re not cutting too many calories, it shouldn’t have a negative affect on your metabolism. Also, if you’re doing any weight resistance training, the muscle you gain from that will actually increase your resting metabolism. So, even when you’re not working out, you’re using up more calories. Glad to see you’re going about it sensibly. Most people on here ask how they can lose 20 lbs in one week!

July gives you plenty of time. I wouldnt cut your cals that severely, especually if you’re going to exercise because you’re losing cals that way. I would throw in a couple hundred more "good" cals…maybe a protein shake, fruit, veggies ect so your metabolism doesnt slow too much!
Also when you exercise your muscle gain will make your metabolism faster!

My advice is to eat healthy little but often, you don’t want to fell hungry, and do plenty excercise, and by excercise it doesn’t have to be hard, i keep my weight off by walking everyday its great, start walking about and it will soon drop off

do lots of excercise and split meals up into lots of small ones rather than three big ones.
these are the two best ways to improve your metabolism.
